Amarcord (oil on canvas, 100 x 150 cm, 2010)
A strong impression has awaken in me by this nostalgic look at life that has been shown in this motion picture with plot situated in early 30's of the last century.

Characterization of figures, visible disorientation and bizarre variety of different characters are the greatest feature of this film. These memorable film characters, one after another, with their intensity delineate a certain dose of humorous, sexual and impressive in other words bitter-sweet drama. We can all relate to these events, so did I, because they outline a nostalgic look at youth and school age. Drastic, non-democratic, political changes in society always bring out the best and the worst in people, so these events may be applied to any drastic change of government and the arrival of a new autocrat.

Events described in film, concerning family life, is so close to my one that in some ocassions I found myself identifying, on the most basic levels, with the scenes shown (for instance: happening around the table during the Sunday lunch). The film is overwhelmed with such instances (feeling of closeness and understanding of human weaknesses, flaws, mischieves and goodness) and that is what inspired me to create this cycle of paintings, by which I tried to evoke the same kind of emotion in the spectator as I felt myself during the film.
